I was never given a single beat as a journalist; a frustration at the time and a blessing in hindsight. Writing for diverse outlets across a range of topics exposed me to worlds I would have never discovered otherwise, taught me how to engage different audiences, and allowed me to develop storytelling skills that I am confident can be applied anywhere today.
