A guest editor brings an alternative perspective to a publication, and — hopefully — a new audience. As Arts Director for La Presse, Canada’s largest French-language daily, I launched a guest-editor initiative, selecting candidates and persuading them to spend significant time planning out their edition with our team.
Indie songwriter Coeur de Pirate agreed to celebrate the 10-year mark of her career with a guest editorship.
TV personality Marc Labrèche wanted to pay homage to Magritte with his special edition; I partnered him with our video production team to make a short film in this spirit.
Anishinaabe visual artist Caroline Monnet worked with us on the occasion of her showing at the Whitney Biennale. The centerpiece of our collaboration was a self-portrait that blended a traditional pattern with a QR code.
I was thrilled to lead director Chloé Robichaud into our production rooms.
